City approves Wessler inspection agreement for $9.44M Westside Regional Interceptor project

Franklin — The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a construction administration and inspection contract with Wessler Engineering for phase 2 of the Westside Regional Interceptor.
City engineer Matt McElroy described the project as “a 7 mile run of sanitary sewer along the West Side of Franklin from basically the school all the way to the wastewater treatment plant,” and said the construction contract was bid at $9,441,566 and awarded to Subsurface of Indiana. McElroy said the Wessler agreement totals about $651,000, which he calculated is roughly 6.9% of the construction contract — lower than typical inspection percentages he has seen.
A board member moved to approve Wessler Engineering’s construction administration and inspection contract, the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the arrangement will allow construction oversight and that the city will monitor inspection deliverables under the contract.
