Commission staff said the exhibit will be displayed during library operating hours and that the commission is the first exhibit location in Indiana for this program.
HPC members discussed creating a local-history display to accompany the national exhibit, hosting school and homeschool field trips, and offering guided visits downtown. A member volunteered to give talks on women’s suffrage for some events, and staff said they will contact Indiana Humanities about setup logistics and will circulate an opening-invitation for a private event the night before the public opening. Staff reported some setup dates and lodging for visiting representatives at Pokagon State Park.
Members also discussed outreach strategies — emailing schools, coordinating with the county 250th anniversary committee, and using local businesses and Main Street partners to promote the exhibit. Staff said Indiana Humanities provided grant funding for the exhibit and that organizers will send an event flyer with schedule information to commission members.
