Anderson County commissioners on July 7 approved an amendment to the contract to sell the county-owned Civic Center at 1819 West Spring Street in Boston, moving the buyer’s closing date to July 15, 2025.
Judge (presiding) told the court the only change in the amendment is the closing date; the county will be reimbursed for asbestos removal costs at closing rather than issuing vendor checks up front. The judge said copies of treasurer checks showing prior payments were on file for the three vendors performing abatement.
The amendment was approved by voice vote without recorded roll-call; the court did not change any other contract terms. The motion to approve was made from the bench and seconded; commissioners voted in favor.
The sale remains subject to the existing contract terms other than the revised closing date. The county clerk will carry the amended contract and related closing documentation forward to the title/closing company for implementation.
