Presiding official McKinney read the certification into the record and stated that "Casey Brown, the election administrator, does hereby certify that the figures on the tally sheets precinct by precinct, returns correspond with the figures on election returns," and that Brown had signed the canvass. The court recorded a total of 4,811 votes cast out of 30,507 registered voters, a 15.77% turnout.
McKinney noted the county and election staff reported no significant problems: "we did have any problems. Everything went smooth?" After giving Casey Brown an opportunity to speak, the court considered the canvass for approval.
Commissioner Mims moved to approve the canvass; Commissioner Wilbanks seconded. The court approved the canvass with an "Aye" vote and the presiding official directed that the signed canvass be sent to the secretary of state's office as required.
The certification closes the county's administrative review of precinct tally sheets and records and begins formal submission to state authorities for recording. The court then moved on to finalizing signatures on the canvass documents.
