Staff said crews and contractor H & N cleared subdivisions and streets within roughly 24 hours after the storm, and thanked employees who worked long shifts. "There's really it's uncalled for to be swearing at our contractors," staff said, asking the public for patience while clearing continues in cul-de-sacs and tighter streets.
The department reported favorable bid results: bids opened for the Monon Tunnel and for the 181st and Grand Park Boulevard roundabout produced low bids substantially under the budgeted amounts, staff said. The Monon Tunnel bid opening on Jan. 23 drew four bidders, and the low bid was reported under budget.
Staff also described coordination with Duke Energy and other utilities for a planned building move that will require temporary removal and reconnection of overhead service lines as the building is moved through the right of way. They said tree clearing and utility coordination will be scheduled to align with project timing.
No formal board action was required on the report; the board thanked staff for the update.
