Weddle elected council president; council approves appointments slate and adjourns

GOSHEN — At its Jan. 26 meeting the Goshen City Council elected new council leadership and approved a slate of appointments to city boards and commissions.
Nominations were opened for council president. Councilor Weddle and Councilor Peel were nominated. A roll-call vote produced Councilor Weddle as the new council president for 2026. The council then considered the vice president/minority representative role and unanimously approved Councilor Ledrock by voice vote.
The council also voted to approve the slate of appointments to the city’s boards and commissions as presented in the meeting packet. The mayoral appointments were noted as mayoral. The council specifically recorded council appointments for redevelopment matters naming Colin Yoder and Brett Weddle and a council appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals (Leon/Leonat spelling in packet). Cemetery board appointments remain under follow-up and were deferred to the February meeting for final action.
The meeting closed after routine reports and a motion to adjourn passed unanimously.
