Redevelopment staff: quiet zone stalled by railroad coordination, Bridal Cycle Works proceeding with construction

Redevelopment staff provided the commission with a monthly update Dec. 9 that covered the quiet zone effort, ongoing projects and project timelines. Staff said the quiet zone project is progressing but is blocked by coordination over a pedestrian crossing with Norfolk Southern; Norfolk directed staff to "talk to your municipality," creating uncertainty about the appropriate contact to resolve the crossing issue.
Staff also reported progress on Bridal Cycle Works construction, noting the site is looking good but that vehicles and trucks are causing morning congestion and some neighborhood impacts. Commissioners asked staff to raise access and parking concerns with the contractor.
Other highlights included an update that College Avenue Phase 1 letting was imminent, the Row on the Mill Race townhomes expect to break ground next June, and board-of-works action is planned for approval of a wellfield property contract. Staff said trailers adjacent to the Bridal Cycle Works project had been removed and that the team is continuing to pursue quiet-zone solutions ahead of Cherry Creek connections.
Staff will continue coordination with railroads and contractors, and will bring more detailed updates and timeline adjustments to the commission as available.
