LFA demos fee dashboard to help lawmakers spot fee changes; staff urge compliance

Nate Osborne of the Legislative Fiscal Analyst’s office demonstrated a new online "fee dashboard" intended to help the subcommittee find proposed fee changes across agencies and to drill into estimated volumes, cost bases and historical trends. The tool shows which fees are proposed to rise or fall and provides drilldowns into agency-level details.
Osborne walked members through sample screens, including an example showing proposed reductions to certain Attorney General office fees and the role of ISF (internal service fund) hourly rate changes tied to compensation. "This is called the fee dashboard," Osborne said, and he encouraged members to use it as they review the fee bill.
Gary Sifis added that agencies must meet enhanced compliance requirements for fee reporting this year and warned that noncompliant fees may not be included in the fee bill. He also discussed the option of revenue-neutral swaps—raising some fees (for example, court filing fees) while reducing general-fund spending to meet reduction targets.
No fee changes were decided in the hearing; staff asked members to review the dashboard and to instruct agencies to complete fee documentation required for inclusion in the fee bill.
