The Minneapolis Zoning Board of Adjustment on Jan. 20 continued a land-use request for 1100 Irving Avenue North after staff said public notices failed to identify all required variances. Staff recommended the continuance so the applicant and neighbors could be properly notified of variances related to a corner side yard, driveway location relative to the structure and required spacing between the structure and proposed parking.
A staff member told the board the notice omitted variances connected to parking location rules that require parking to be located behind principal residential structures in certain districts. The staff member said hearing notices have been sent to reflect the change in the overall request and that the applicant did not request additional time; the board moved and seconded to continue the item to Feb. 12, 2026, and approved the continuance by voice vote.
Chair Perry also noted that the agenda included an item for 3031 19th Avenue West that was listed as returned and required no further action. As an update, a staff member (Mr. Ellis) said the applicant appealed the earlier decision on 4155 41st Avenue South (a church addition); staff did not have a hearing date yet.
No members of the public were recorded as speaking on the 1100 Irving item in the transcript.
Next procedural hearing for the item is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2026.
