Minneapolis heritage panel elects officers, adopts 2026 meeting calendar

Marie Bjornberg was re-elected chair of the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission on Jan. 27, with commissioners also electing Commissioner Masten as vice chair and Commissioner Melblum as secretary. The clerk ran nominations and then called roll votes that confirmed the slate by unanimous roll-call votes.
Erin Kaye, senior city planner in the Department of Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED), presented the commission’s proposed 2026 calendar. Commissioners approved a schedule of generally two meetings per month, a May 7 retreat and a single May meeting around a council break; November’s meeting shifts to avoid election day.
Commissioners approved the agenda and the minutes from the Jan. 13 meeting before taking up substantive items. With leadership and the calendar settled, the commission moved on to historic nominations, certificates of appropriateness and staff updates.
The commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2026.
