Tennessee House schedules calendars, withdraws multiple bills and recesses to hear governor's State of the State

The Tennessee House handled a swath of procedural business after opening remarks, including introducing bills, processing motions to withdraw bills from committee, setting schedules and recessing to join the Senate for the governor's State of the State address.
Clerk Miss Clark announced the introduction of House bills 1,884 through 2,087, which were introduced and passed on first consideration. The clerk and presiding officer also reported that house bills 1,782 through 1,883 cleared second consideration and were referred to the appropriate standing committees.
A string of members moved to withdraw specific bills from committee. Representative Powell moved "to withdraw house bill 2002 from the committee in the house" and the motion was ordered. Representative Parkinson moved to withdraw "house bill 1808, house bill 2040, and house bill 2042"; that motion was ordered without objection. Other withdrawal motions—naming bills such as HB 1545, HB 1854, HB 1726, HB 928, HB 1876 and others—were made by representatives across the floor; most were handled "without objection," though some were noted "with objections." The House recorded each motion and its immediate disposition on the floor.
Leader Lambreuth, after consulting with the minority leader, moved that four calendars originally set for Jan. 28 be heard on Wednesday, Feb. 4; the motion carried "without objection." Lambreuth also moved that House Bill 447 be heard in the department and agency subcommittee this week; that motion passed "with objections."
Clerk Miss Clark announced the House bill-filing deadline is tomorrow at 3 p.m. The House then, pursuant to HJR 742, approved a brief recess to join the Senate in joint convention to hear Governor Lee's State of the State address and stood in recess until 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026.
Most of the floor activity on this day was procedural and scheduling in nature rather than debate on the merits of specific bills.
