Daggett County commissioners on Jan. 27 directed staff to determine responsibility for relocated road signs and to move forward with ordering required breakaway hardware for sign installations.
Staff described a contract change order that removed sign relocation work for an intersection project at Rainbow Way/ Kevin's Cove; the change order noted a special service district might assume responsibility for the signs. Commissioners asked staff to research whether signs were installed then damaged or never installed, and to clarify who must pay for replacement signs.
Commissioners and road staff discussed standards for breakaway sign hardware for signs within highway clear zones and asked the county engineer to provide specifications and quantities. One staff member said he would send cut sheets and follow up so parts can be ordered and installed once an encroachment permit and measurements are confirmed.
The commission also reviewed bids and contractor selection for Brown Park Road (transportation district project) and discussed arranging a survey and agreement with the Division of Water Resources to assess fence relocation at Taylor's Flat. Staff said they will gather the bracket and breakaway cut sheets and submit permit paperwork as needed.
The commission asked staff to report back with the spec, estimated costs and suggested next steps at the next meeting.
