County staff and the project engineer explained the funding structure for the trail, saying the project combines county funds, joint highway funds and a USDA grant. The project team stated the total project figure discussed in the meeting was about $3,800,000 and that the county’s portion was described as “over $1,000,000,” with an estimated out‑of‑pocket near $60,000 for the trail; those figures were described in discussion by project staff.
Commissioners confirmed NEPA work was completed and discussed outstanding permits, including an Army Corps permit and wetland considerations. Staff said contract language will require contractors to meet environmental commitments tied to federal funding.
After the vote, commissioners directed staff to provide the signed assurances to USDA contact Kevin and to include the federal‑aid agreement and supporting documents in next week’s packet for further review.
