The Box Elder City Council voted on July 1 to award the West Sunnydale Road reconstruction project (project number 24002) to RCS Construction Inc. for $1,064,265.06.
City engineer Scott Lang said five bids were opened on June 17 and recommended the low bidder. "Our low bid was from RCS construction for just over $1,064,000," Lang said, noting the bid was within the project's $2,000,000 loan or budget and that construction is expected to finish in October. The council authorized the mayor to sign the associated contract documents.
Council also approved an amendment to the engineering services agreement with TDG (transcript references to TUI/Tweed Design Group) for the West Sunnydale project. The amendment adds $31,486, producing a resulting total contract value of $83,486 for engineering and surveying services; the motion passed on recorded 'Aye' votes.
In the same block of routine business, the council approved a letter of authorization requested by the city administrator to allow Apple Inc. to accept documentation for app customization (Civics Plus) so the city can change the app icon to the City of Box Elder logo. City administrator Doug Curry explained the authorization is an Apple requirement and council approved the authorization and related signatures.
All items were approved on roll call votes as part of new business and consent motions recorded in the meeting minutes.
