Box Elder Council Hears, Moves to Approve Dollar General Alcohol Licenses

The Box Elder City Council opened two public hearings at 7:01 p.m. on a new retail off-sale malt beverage license and a retail off-sale wine-and-cider license for Dogan Midwest LLC, Dollar General Store 33 14, a new store under construction at Fox Veil and Box Elder Road.
Marco Laughlin, the city’s business license and development specialist, told the council the new Dollar General location “should be a good benefit to the community.” Laughlin said both licenses are for off-sale only and that staff recommended approval of both applications.
No members of the public spoke at the hearings, there were no online commenters and the city reported no emailed comments. The hearings closed within minutes and the two license items were included on the consent agenda and approved without separate debate.
Because both applications were described by staff as off-sale only, the council’s action authorizes retail sales of packaged malt beverages and wine/cider at the Dollar General location pending final licensing paperwork.
