Dixie Technical College seeks $41 million to expand trades and training capacity

The president said last year the board secured $8 million for programming and design for a Trades and Technology Building and requested an additional $41 million this year for construction to eliminate waiting lists and expand high-wage, high-demand program capacity in construction, transportation trades, computer technologies and advanced manufacturing.
Dixie Tech officials highlighted strong placement (92%) and graduation (85%) rates and described partnerships with Utah Tech University that include bridge programs in nursing, biotechnology and hospitality. The college emphasized its role in expanding secondary and concurrent-enrollment access — secondary participation up 116% since 2022 — and described work-based learning connections to regional employers.
The president asked legislators to support capacity-building to meet regional shortages in skilled trades, noting national trends of more retirees than new entrants into skilled trades.
