House recognizes first-responder chaplains, Prospect Valley students and schedules potluck

Representative Johnson asked the chamber to welcome the Rocky Mountain Police and Fire Chaplains in observance of first-responder chaplaincy day at the Capitol, saying the chaplains support first responders’ physical and mental well-being. The House also acknowledged guests from Prospect Valley Elementary School in Wheat Ridge, naming student Cooper Jacobson as one of the visitors and noting they were guests of Majority Leader Durand.
Assistant Majority Leader Bacon and Representative Hartsook invited members to a Mardi Gras potluck on Feb. 17 and noted Black History Month observances. Representative Luck read extended excerpts from the book More Than Petticoats: Remarkable Colorado Women, recounting the story of Sister Blandina and her work building schools and hospitals and advocating against racism.
Before recess, members were invited to gather for a group photo in Bronco gear; the presiding officer later moved the House into recess until later that day.
