Cooper City outlines short-term beautification push and cites $1.3 million congressional allocation for headworks project

City Manager outlined a near-term campaign of beautification projects across Cooper City — including Flamingo West Park, pool and tennis center and medians on main corridors — that staff will promote via short social-media video snippets and before/after photos.

Communications staff said the campaign will feature short clips to keep residents engaged and demonstrate visible improvements. "We're trying to keep these short," the communications lead said, noting the intent is to highlight incremental work over the next two to three months.

In the manager's report staff also said Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (as referenced in the packet) included $1.3 million in a federal budget proposal toward the city's headworks project, part of an estimated $7 million project. Manager and staff said the appropriation remains in a pending federal budget and they expect follow-up letters from the congresswoman’s office; staff also noted they are pursuing additional state funding programs and other grants to assemble the full project budget.

Commissioners discussed whether to recognize sponsoring lawmakers and asked staff about the state-level request strategy and which legislators are carrying appropriation requests in Tallahassee.
