The Cooper City Planning & Zoning Board unanimously approved a driveway-variance petition for the Harding residence (Variance No. Eleven-one-twenty5) that will widen the driveway entrance from 24 to 26 feet and allow up to a 36‑foot width nearer the house.
Staff told the board the applicant proposed the narrower option to preserve three mature trees on the southern end of the property and to lower total impervious area to reduce runoff. The application packet included tree caliper measurements, photos and alternative driveway renderings; staff said the requested configuration would be less intrusive than by-right secondary or circular drive options. The applicant also cited an accessibility need: a child with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair or walker.
The board opened a public hearing and received no additional speakers. A motion to approve the variance was made by Dr. Barkins and seconded by Mr. Goulet; the motion carried unanimously on a voice vote.
