Field house near completion; kitchen occupancy and Phase 9 work move forward, district says

Richland‑Bean Blossom Community School Corporation officials on Nov. 18 reported progress on a series of construction and renovation projects and gave a timeline for finishing work and turnover.
Martin Truesdale led the construction update, saying crews are finalizing punch‑list items at the early childhood center and that the field house court logo and floor coats are close to completion. "A couple clear coats should be done by Thursday ... It'll be usable as of Monday," Truesdale said, noting technology and camera installations remain and staff will schedule a tour after Thanksgiving.
Phase 9 high‑school renovations are in drywall and finishing stages with some furniture delivery occurring; Truesdale said kitchen work is substantially complete but a pressure‑reducing valve for a stove and a dishwasher valve remain to be installed to satisfy the Board of Health's conditions for full occupancy. He said the Board of Health has given preliminary approval to use a three‑compartment sink pending those final fixes and the town of Ellettsville has been notified regarding occupancy.
District staff also described corporate‑wide roof replacement planning: core samples and moisture testing have been completed in several buildings and a thermal scan is expected; those results will inform whether to add drains and flashing and when to send the roof work to bid.
Playground installation at the early childhood center remains weather dependent; surfacing requires warmer temperatures and asphalt plant availability, so schedule timing is uncertain.
Truesdale asked the board to expect a construction request to go to bid next month for roofing work after plans are finalized and tests completed. The board will be notified of final turnover dates and invited to inspect the field house and kitchen once contractors complete punch work and technology installations.
