The board also approved the Head Start contract (South Central Community Action Program) under which the nutrition department will prepare meals for about 200 children daily, enabling free K–5 lunches supported by those funds. Administration asked the board to approve technical adjustments to a number of employee contracts (start dates, prorated salaries, and leave day alignment) and recommended approval of an adjunct teacher permit (listed in the packet as Ken Bridal) and a nutrition services student worker position. All motions were moved, seconded, and carried on voice votes.
Administrators said the bus purchases were timed to take advantage of lead times and to protect the operations fund by using bond proceeds; they also reported shorter delivery windows and parts-cost advantages for the selected buses.
