The Valverde City Council approved a resolution on Sept. 23 to change the city’s authorized bank signers, adding the city secretary and removing the planning director and the police chief from signature authority.
Presiding officer (Speaker 1) said the change is intended to streamline procedures and reduce the need to chase additional signatures for financial transactions. A councilmember (Speaker 2) moved to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded, opened for public comment (none), and approved with no opposition recorded.
Council members discussed that the change returns the signatory structure to a prior configuration and confirmed Councilmember Castro’s support. The city indicated the update would leave three authorized signers at this time: the presiding officer, Councilmember Castro and the city secretary.
