The Bulverde police department told the council it responded to 1,153 calls for service in November, with 15 arrests and 14 crashes that generated formal reports to the state.
During the presentation the police chief described a recent early‑morning stolen‑vehicle incident in a neighboring area. Officers located a vehicle at about 3:00 a.m., attempted a stop, and the vehicle fled; the car slid into a yard and two occupants fled on foot. Officers conducted two K‑9 searches and multiple ground searches through the morning but did not locate the suspects. "We did have an officer stop a suspicious vehicle... We're pretty sure that the driver of that car was the getaway driver for the other 2 males," the chief said.
Staff said they obtained two search warrants for cell phones found in the vehicle and will seek geolocation warrants if the phones link to suspect activity. The chief also detailed coordination with Comal County, noting county K‑9 units and a drone equipped with a heat seeker assisted in the search.
Council members asked about license‑plate camera footage and whether cameras on state right‑of‑way could be used; staff said red tape limits placement on state property and that the city will talk to private property owners with frontage to host cameras where legally feasible. Staff also described new equipment donated to the department, including an animal‑scanner used to identify microchipped pets, improving the ability to return animals to owners before animal control takes custody.
