Representatives of autism organizations — including Mark Lobel and Commonwealth Autism — urged caution, arguing the program originated with autistic communities and should expand only after additional safeguards, study and implementation guardrails.
The subcommittee gently tabled HB 5‑17 and unanimously reported HB 10‑97 by a vote of 10–0, advancing the outreach and DMV‑website requirements while asking for more work on any broad expansion.
