Colorado Senate approves Jan. 15 journal, signs resolutions and recesses for joint House session

The Colorado State Senate approved its Jan. 15, 2026 journal, confirmed paperwork for several measures and recessed to join the House for a joint session, Senate leaders announced.
Senator Kirkmeyer moved that “the Senate Journal of January 15, 01/15/2026 be approved as corrected by the secretary.” The motion was put to a voice vote and, after members responded “aye,” the president declared the motion adopted.
Clerical reports from Senate services noted that Senate bills 3 and 9 were correctly printed and introduced and that Senate joint resolutions 2 and 3 and Senate resolution 2 were correctly enrolled. The president announced that he had signed Senate joint resolutions 2 and 3 and Senate resolution 2.
Majority Leader announced that immediately after recess the Senate would attend a joint session with the House beginning at 10:30 a.m. to hear the State of the Tribe address and that seating would be provided alongside House counterparts. He also reminded members that the Senate would be closed on Monday, January 19, for Martin Luther King Day and would reconvene on Tuesday, January 20 at 10 a.m.
The Majority Leader moved that the Senate recess until 11:30 a.m.; the motion was carried by voice vote and the chamber stood in recess.
Other routine announcements included an invitation to a morning prayer breakfast next Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. and logistical notes for members regarding flowers and ground-floor office key pickup.
No recorded roll-call tallies were entered for the journal approval or recess motions in the transcript; both were resolved by voice vote. The Senate clerk recorded attendance at the start of the day, with several members listed as present and a number excused.
