The City Council on Nov. 18 adopted Resolution 2025-R86 amending compensation for the mayor and council members pursuant to section 3.05 of the Boerne Home Rule Charter.
Ben (presenter) said the recommended change doubles the mayor’s stipend from $200 to $400 per month and councilmembers’ stipends from $150 to $300 per month. He said the fiscal impact as seats turn over would be modest; staff estimated about $1,500 in the remainder of the fiscal year for the two seats up for election and a full annual cost of roughly $22,800 when fully deployed.
Council members discussed the symbolic nature of the stipend and equitable compensation for the time commitments of elected officials. After discussion a motion to adopt the resolution passed by a voice vote recorded 5–0.
