The Boerne Historic Landmark Commission voted Dec. 2 to approve a demolition permit for four small commercial structures at 119 Ebner Street, a property outside the historic district where staff said the buildings appear likely to be older than 50 years but show little architectural or cultural value.
Frankie Linder presented the staff report, saying site visits showed the structures in poor condition and that the city had sent 15 notices to nearby properties and received four mailed responses in favor of demolition since the agenda packet was posted. "Our findings are that this property is not a historic landmark and does not have any architectural, cultural, or educational value," Linder said.
Applicant Travis Robertson described the structures as moved-on-site buildings on skids and said he plans to salvage and repurpose metal siding and other materials for a nearby project (Boerne Station Business Park). "I have permission from the Grove family to take the metal tin off of that and to clad my building," Robertson said, indicating materials would be reused rather than discarded.
Commissioner Mines moved to approve the demolition permit; Commissioner Wright seconded and the motion passed.
