Commission approves ADKF sign on existing Jefferson Bank monument

The Boerne Historic Landmark Commission approved a request Dec. 2 to place a 6.3-square-foot ADKF sign panel on an existing Jefferson Bank monument at 371 North Main.
Frankie Linder, assistant planning director, explained that ADKF proposed a dark-green background with white font for the panel and that while the acrylic, internally illuminated material does not meet historic-district guidance, the proposed panel replaces an existing panel and does not expand the monument sign.
Johnson, chief administrative officer for ADKF, said the firm modeled the panel on monuments at its other offices and hoped the color change would bring the panel into closer compliance. "We thought that with this green background, which is part of our branding, we'd be able to comply with the historic commission," Johnson said.
Commissioner Mines moved to approve the certificate of appropriateness; Commissioner Nichols seconded and the motion passed. Staff indicated the panel would be dark-sky compliant and that the city would process the permit as presented.
