Representative Johnson presented HB 1509, saying the bill removes unnecessary barriers while maintaining Florida’s professional standards so qualified veterinarians can move to Florida and practice without unnecessary delay. "It simply allows qualified professionals who want to live and work in Florida to do so without unnecessary delays," Johnson said.
Support waivers came from groups including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Americans for Prosperity; several veterinarians also waived in support. Representative Benaroch offered light debate and noted personal support.
The committee voted to report HB 1509 favorably and the measure will proceed to the next legislative stage.
