Board reviews classroom improvements and roof-replacement bid packages; bids due Feb. 11

During new and old business at the North Spencer County School Corporation meeting, district staff and a representative from Moisture Management outlined upcoming facility projects and bid packaging for summer 2026 work.
Planned work includes finishing four classrooms in the 200 hallway, renovations to a life-skills classroom (including an ADA-accessible restroom), upgrades to the technology lab, and a roof-replacement package for the Career Tech Building and middle schools. Staff described base bid packages and alternates: a standing-seam metal roof as base with a PVC roof system alternate intended to resemble metal-style ribbing.
Moisture Management has prepared plans and specifications, advertised the notice to bid, and scheduled bids to be returned Feb. 11; staff indicated they will present returned bids to the board for decision. Discussion included warranty alternates (an additional warranty option on the PVC system), scheduling to allow summer construction, and the value of having two alternate systems to compare pricing and longevity.
Board members asked clarifying questions about alternates and timing. Staff said the bid packages will be split into at least two separate projects (base bid package no. 1 and base bid package no. 2) to give flexibility in award and scheduling.
