Council OKs limited overnight noise exception for Hudsonwood Road construction
Summary
Denton council voted 6–1 to grant JPI Construction a noise exception for early-morning concrete pours at a multifamily development on Hudsonwood Road, conditioned on written commitments to limit early-hour work nearest multifamily units.
The City of Denton on Dec. 16 adopted an ordinance granting JPI Construction LLC a noise exception under City Code section 17-20(c)(3)(f) for concrete pours and associated equipment at a new multifamily project near 3855 Hudsonwood Road.
Staff described the request as applying to approximately 21 concrete street pours and 32 foundation pours, plus generators and pumps. Council members expressed concern about 3:00 a.m. activity; staff and the contractor described a phasing plan to begin pours on the far side of the site (near May Hill Road) and move toward multifamily buildings so the most disruptive activity would occur during daytime hours. The contractor said the goal was to complete Hudsonwood and Somerset Roads within 48 hours so work closest to residences would fall within normal working hours.
Representative from District 6 moved approval contingent on receiving written confirmation from the applicant that early-hour exceptions would be limited away from multifamily areas; Representative from District 4 seconded. The motion passed 6–1.
