County approves abatement contract for Bountiful Library renovation and accepts $5,000 donation for Kaysville books

The commission approved two library-related items: an environmental abatement agreement for the Bountiful Library renovation and a $5,000 donation agreement for Kaysville Library.
Wayne Rose, facilities, asked the commission to approve a contract with Excel General Contracting for environmental abatement for the Bountiful renovation in the amount of $129,453.12, with terms listed from 02/03/2026 through 07/31/2026. Rose said abatement work is scheduled to start Feb. 16, to be followed by demolition and full construction in spring; the library is currently closed to the public for renovation. Commissioners asked timing questions and approved the item by motion.
Separately, Josh (Library) reported that the W. Mac and Julia S. Watkins Foundation sent an unsolicited $5,000 check for books to the Kaysville Library and presented a low-dollar agreement to accept and expend the donation; the commission approved that agreement as well.
