Committee backs making Potomac State College a permanent participant in Learn and Earn program

Committee Counsel told the panel the bill “amends language that currently makes Potomac State College eligible to participate in the learn and earn program as a pilot program, but by instead removing the pilot program status and making its eligibility permanent.”
Senator Flamingo asked whether a fiscal note had been requested; Committee Counsel said, “We have not requested a fiscal note,” and explained that the policy governing the program allows the total grant amount to be adjusted and institutions’ shares reduced if funds are insufficient.
The Vice Chair moved that Senate Bill 445 be reported to the full Senate with a recommendation that it do pass; the Chair called for a voice vote, the ayes were heard and the Chair declared the motion adopted. The transcript does not record roll-call vote counts; adoption is shown as a voice vote.
