The West Virginia Senate on Jan. 20 adopted Senate Resolution 8 congratulating Anthony "Tony" Dill on being named agent of the year.
Senior senator from the thirteenth asked unanimous consent to take the resolution up immediately and to dispense with the committee reference; there was no objection. The clerk read the resolution, which honors Dill for a career of more than 25 years in the insurance industry and his service to communities across West Virginia.
The supporting senator said Dill is a Preston County native, called him a family man and noted his role as CEO and president of Insurance Centers. "We rise and ask your support of this resolution to honor him and his service," the senator said. After a brief period for discussion and no further debate, the presiding officer called for the vote and declared, "The ayes do have it," and the resolution was adopted.
What happens next: The resolution is a formal recognition recorded in the Senate Journal; no further legislative action was required.
