During the Jan. 21 meeting the Copperton council approved several appointments to interlocal and regional bodies.
The council nominated and appointed Kathleen Bailey to represent Copperton on the South Salt Lake Valley Mosquito Abatement District; Bailey accepted the appointment by voice vote. The council also moved to retain the mayor as Copperton’s representative to the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District Board of Trustees, a role the mayor historically has held; that motion passed by voice vote.
Staff explained the role of the Utah League of Cities and Towns’ legislative policy committee (LPC) during the state legislative session, noting the committee meets frequently during session and that the city should have elected representation able to respond quickly to bill positions. The council moved to retain the mayor and staff (Nathan) as LPC representatives and to ensure newly sworn council member Jonathan Pratt receives LPC communications going forward.
The appointments are recorded in the council minutes and the mayor was asked to notify league staff to confirm representation.
