Copperton swears in mayor and two council members at Jan. 21 meeting

Sean Clayton, Jonathan Pratt and Linda McCallum were sworn into their Copperton offices at the council’s meeting on Jan. 21, municipal staff said. The oaths were administered by town clerk Diana before the council moved on to regular business.
The brief ceremony included each official repeating an oath affirming support for the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Utah and a formal signing of documentation. Jonathan Pratt and Linda McCallum each repeated the oath and signed the official copies provided by the clerk; Sean Clayton then repeated the oath for the office of mayor.
The swearing allowed the newly seated members to participate in votes held later in the meeting. No members of the public addressed the council during the ensuing public comment period.
The council recessed into routine business after the oaths and began agency updates and agenda items scheduled for the evening.
