Texas Association of Counties consultant briefs Scurry County on safety training, property surveys

Nick, a risk control consultant with the Texas Association of Counties, told commissioners the association can provide in-person safety training for road and maintenance crews, online "AP Safety" training videos for staff, property and workers' compensation surveys and a four-year claims review to identify trends and mitigation steps.
"First and foremost, I wanna say congratulations. You guys did win our safety award this year, and that will be presented at the county management conference starting in March," Nick said. He described training tracks available for law enforcement, risk control and human resources and encouraged county staff to use both in-person sessions and the online safety videos.
Nick said property surveys focus on high-value buildings and workers' compensation exposure, and that the association can work with county staff (he mentioned meeting with "Miss Sanchez") to review claims history and recommend a plan. He offered to remain after the meeting for questions and to share contact information with commissioners.
The court thanked Nick and noted the county may send staff to the county management conference; registration was noted as no-cost and the conference may pay some lodging for attendees.
