County board approves Microsoft 365 G5 licensing purchase for cybersecurity and compliance

Carrie told the board the upgrade from Office 365 G3 to Microsoft 365 G5 will add advanced threat protection, data-governance and information-protection tools and provide better security settings for sensitive data. Staff recommended moving forward with a vendor quote from SHI for $185,349.28. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the purchase by voice vote.
Carrie said the current licensing is effectively an a la carte set of modules accumulated over time and that consolidating to G5 should provide stronger security and, with a move to Teams calling, long-term cost savings.
