Senate committee advances Carrie Fresquez to full Senate for State Personnel Board seat

The Senate Rules Committee voted Wednesday to advance Carrie Fresquez’s nomination to the State Personnel Board to the full Senate for confirmation.
Fresquez, who described more than 25 years in state government roles including IT leadership, elections administration and work at the state spaceport authority, told the committee she is eager to support ongoing modernizations such as the state's job architecture. "I'm most excited about the opportunity to help with the modernizations that have been occurring under Director Lang as far as job architecture and modernizing rules," she said.
Supporters including Dylan Lang and officials from the Secretary of State’s office praised her leadership and prior service on classification and compensation modernization efforts. In Q&A, senators asked about statewide IT integration, layered cybersecurity and how rules should be updated to align with job architecture; Fresquez said the Department of Information Technology provides overarching protections while agencies apply additional layers and that alignment and coordination are the goals.
Senator Duhigg moved to advance Fresquez's appointment to the full Senate; the committee reported the motion passed with seven votes in favor.
