Committee adopts substitute to SB 6,091 and reports two gubernatorial appointments with recommendation

The Senate Housing Committee met in executive session to consider SB 6,091 and two gubernatorial appointments. Committee staff reviewed SB 6,091, which would prohibit real estate brokers from marketing property sales or leases to limited or exclusive groups and make such restrictions subject to discipline by the Department of Licensing. A proposed Substitute A, sponsored by Senator Bateman, narrows the marketing requirement so that it does not compel an owner to allow access into a residence and removes a section that had identified the violation as a WALAD violation.
Vice Chair Alvarado moved adoption of the proposed substitute labeled A. After brief discussion, the committee adopted the substitute by voice vote. Vice Chair Alvarado then moved that the proposed substitute receive a due-pass recommendation and be sent to the Rules Committee; the motion passed by voice vote and the bill was reported out "subject to signatures." The committee then considered gubernatorial appointment number 9278 (Pedro Espinosa) and number 9279 (Diana H Perez). Each appointment was moved with a recommendation for confirmation and received a favorable recommendation subject to signatures.
The committee then adjourned.
