Norfolk County Commission approves payroll, personnel appointments and contract extension; grants civic rate for charity golf event

The Norfolk County Commission on Wednesday unanimously approved a slate of routine administrative measures including payroll and expense warrants, contingent personnel appointments and a six-month extension of an ARPA consultant contract.
Chairman opened the meeting and noted the board was conducting a live and remote session under the extension enacted by House Bill 62 and Mass. Gen. Laws chapter 30A, §§18–25. Commissioners in attendance — Commissioner Collins, Commissioner Stady and Commissioner Shay — voted together on each item.
The commission approved payroll to the county of $146,193.06, a school expense warrant of $356,851.06 and a county expense warrant of $131,764.81. Commissioner Stady presented the warrants and the board approved them by roll call votes.
The board also approved contingent rehires at the Walser Recreational Facility — Michael Dede, Edward Devon and Keith Cross as seasonal golf associates, and Michael Cullett Jr. as assistant golf pro — and a contingent appointment of Charles (transcript: 'Bridal'/'Cocol') as a substitute instructor at Norfolk County High School. All personnel motions passed by unanimous roll call votes.
In procurement business, the commission approved a six-month extension for the ARPA consultant/assistant contract for William Galvin, extending the agreement through June 30, 2026, at the rate stated in the contract.
The commission granted a civic-rate request from Patrick O'Connor for the Tournament of Friendship at President's Golf Course, to be held on or about May 8, 2026, to raise funds for the Boston Children's Hospital Heart Center; the request included a fundraising target of $15,000 and the approval was made subject to director review.
Other housekeeping items approved during the meeting included the open-session minutes of Jan. 21, 2026, and a series of letters: expressions of thanks to partners in the county veterans' holiday drive and a letter of support for Randolph's FY26 Community Development Block Grant application to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities.
The meeting concluded after a roll call adjournment vote; the board voted unanimously to adjourn at 1:43 p.m.
