Okemos board introduces Jennifer Emendorfer as new director of human resources

Superintendent Hood introduced Jennifer Emendorfer as Okemos Public Schools’ new director of human resources and invited her to address the board. Hood summarized Emendorfer’s background in Saginaw Township Community Schools, her HR-specialist certification through the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) programs and prior experience in recruitment, onboarding, compliance and process improvements.
Emendorfer thanked the board and acknowledged the interim HR work done by Peter Trezise (referred to in the meeting). She said she looks forward to working with district staff to modernize processes and to support onboarding, fingerprinting and state-reporting responsibilities.
Trustees offered welcomes and appreciation for the district’s deliberate hiring process and multiple interview stages used to select the candidate.
