South Lyon honors officer and fire crew after child resuscitation

Chief Unruh described the sequence: Officer Boot arrived first at the scene of a 5‑year‑old not breathing, immediately began chest compressions and continued until the fire crew arrived. Fire crews then continued high‑quality CPR, restored circulation, and the child was transported for further care; the child has since made a full recovery and returned to normal activity, the chief said.
A unit citation named Captain Jeff Noshel, Sergeant Joe Yerkounis, fire inspectors Alex Grandy and Nelson Shilk, and cadets Ellie Noshel, Mike Ulrich and Corbin Fox. The council paused for photos to mark the award presentation.
