Finance committee accepts $10,000 Old National Bank grant for Aurora Financial Empowerment Center

The Aurora Finance Committee on Oct. 10 voted unanimously to accept a $10,000 grant from Old National Bank to support the Aurora Financial Empowerment Center.
City staff told the committee the grant will be used for operations, marketing and programming. An unidentified presenter noted the center has “served over 2,000 clients, had over 2,000 outcomes, and helped increase savings by more than 1,100,000.0 and reduced debt by over 3,400,000.0,” and asked the committee to approve acceptance of the gift.
A motion to accept the grant was made, seconded and approved on a 4-0 vote. No members of the public spoke on the item.
The resolution (24-0720) formalizes the city’s acceptance of the funds for the FEC and directs staff to apply the money toward the center’s stated outreach and programming expenses. Staff said the grant is intended to support continuing client services and to underwrite marketing that will encourage further community uptake.
The committee moved on afterward to two other budget items on its agenda.
