Nampa recognizes airport responders and announces police leadership changes

City staff used the meeting’s staff communications to recognize quick action at the Nampa Municipal Airport and to update the council on Nampa Police Department staffing changes.
Crystal Craig, director of transportation, presented airport operations tech April Silva and electrician Steve Collins with mayoral letters and challenge coins for their role in identifying smoke at Hangar 0510 on Jan. 9, summoning emergency responders and assisting access and power shutdown. Fire Marshal Elijah Effinger praised their actions for helping first responders extinguish the fire and limit damage to two aircraft.
Chief Huff provided an operational update for the Nampa Police Department, reporting more than 20 internal transfers and promotions over the past month and additional moves expected. He said the changes were driven in part by the upcoming retirement of Captain Brad Daniels. Chief Huff announced Angel Calderon as the new operations captain and Rob Wiggins as a newly promoted lieutenant; both addressed the council and thanked staff and family.
The recognitions and promotions were presented as informational items with council members offering congratulations. No council votes were required.
