Pataskala presented Auditor of State Award with Distinction for fiscal reporting

Scott Brown, a liaison from the Auditor of State’s office, told council the award recognizes local governments that file timely financial reports on a GAAP basis, produce comprehensive annual financial reports and have audit reports free of findings. Brown said the award "places your organization in the top 4% of the 4,200 engagements that we conduct every year." He also singled out former finance director Jamie Nicholson for leadership and praised current finance staff.
Mayor and council accepted the award and invited Jennifer (city finance staff) to accept on behalf of the department in Nicholson’s absence. Brown said he expected to return next year to present the award again, praising the city’s accounting practices and internal controls.
The presentation was ceremonial; no formal council action was required.
