Joint convention convenes to receive chief justice; House introduces four bills and adjourns

The House returned to regular business and the chief clerk read first readings for several bills: House File 2072 (prohibiting certain noncompete clauses in contracts involving the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics), HF 2073 (changes to ballot-contest procedures for certain elected offices), HF 2074 (permitting cities to create entertainment districts and allowing possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages in certain public areas), and HF 2075 (regulating the operation of mini trucks on highways and making penalties applicable). Each bill was referred to the committee listed during its first reading.
Representative Kaufman moved to adjourn the House until 8:30 a.m. Thursday; the motion prevailed by voice vote and the House adjourned.
