Davis County commissioners approved a reimbursement agreement with the Utah Department of Transportation on routine voice vote to cover acquisition of remaining parcels for the West Davis corridor up to the Weber County boundary.
Kent Anderson, director of the county's Community and Economic Development department, told commissioners the agreement is payable in the amount of $19,999,998 and runs from Sept. 30, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2030. Anderson said, "Approximately 11,700,000.0 we're expecting this year," describing how some funds will be spent across 2025 and 2026. He said staff expect the schedule to span multiple years as final property acquisitions are completed.
Anderson also said the property committee unanimously recommended the transaction after staff review. He noted the purchase will acquire the remaining pieces for the corridor project up to the county line and that Adam Wright reviewed the parcel and is "comfortable with it because it will affect one of our drainage basins." The agreement was presented as a payable reimbursement from the county to UDOT and discussed alongside other community and economic development items.
Commissioner John Croft moved for approval of the block of consent items that included the reimbursement agreement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The agreement authorizes county participation in the ongoing West Davis corridor right-of-way acquisitions but does not itself transfer title to any parcel; specific acquisitions and timing will follow the terms of the contract and the project schedule. The county's property committee and staff review were cited as the basis for recommending approval.
