Davis County approves tourism board appointment, UTA ski-bus deal and $10,000 mural grant

The Davis County Commission approved three Community and Economic Development items on Nov. 25: the one-year appointment of Oliver Young (Young Venues) to the Tourism Tax Advisory Board, renewal of a Utah Transit Authority agreement for the snow- and ski-bus program, and a $10,000 Discover Davis mural grant to Clearfield City.
Kent Anderson, director of Community and Economic Development, said Oliver Young fills a vacant seat on the Tourism Tax Advisory Board for the 2026 term. Anderson described the UTA agreement as an amendment that shifts the start date to Dec. 17 and lists a payable amount of $49,213 for service between Dec. 17, 2025 and April 11, 2026.
Anderson said the mural grant is part of a 50% match program; the Clearfield mural will feature an American kestrel and include a QR code as part of the Utah wildlife mural tour. "They're gonna include an American kestrel, which is a local falcon," Anderson said.
The commission approved items 7, 8 and 9 in a single motion and voiced support for increasing public art across the county.
What happens next: County staff will finalize the appointment paperwork, execute the UTA agreement amendment, and process the mural memorandum of understanding with Clearfield City.
