Davis County approves modest clerk and recorder fee increases expected to raise about $50,000

County Clerk Bridal McKenzie said the clerk's office proposed a $5 increase to the marriage-license fee (which would include certified copies) and would discontinue the standard non-certified marriage-license copy. The clerk also proposed adding a fee to cover staff time for county-conducted marriage ceremonies. "Within the established fees of the county clerk's office, we are proposing a $5 increase to our marriage license fee," McKenzie said.
Dakota, deputy director of the county recorder's office, described a separate set of mostly small, dollar-level increases for copy costs, a new fee for vault-document copies, and a preliminary-plat submittal review fee to reflect cadastral-mapper time handling frequent plat questions. Dakota said the recorder's office last updated fees in 2015 and is seeking improved cost recovery.
McKenzie projected about $50,000 in additional revenue from the clerk's changes next year. Commissioners asked no substantive questions on the proposals and approved the fee amendments by motion.
